The National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit seeks to provide up to date information on the drug situation by:
- Conducting school and community based surveys
- Production newsletters on drug issues
- Provision of data on drug situation through the Drug Information Network
- Compilation and analysis of data
- Production of materials to support education and community programmes
- Providing data/ information to guide programmes planning and implementation
Generally, the National Drug Prevention Unit serves as a national resource centre on alcohol and substance abuse. In its collaborative effort, it works closely with:
- The Dominica Police Force
- National Youth Council
- Governmental Departments
- Non- Governmental Organizations
- Community- Based Organizations
- Service Clubs
- Private Sectors
- Churches
- Drug Free Clubs
